Building it yourself on the same Jetson Orin Nano Super silicon is a perfectly good answer if the building is the point. This page is for the other case: you want Hermes Agent running tonight, on a machine you own, without becoming its sysadmin.
What is Hermes Agent, and who are Nous Research?
Short version, because the name is overloaded and two different things share it.
Hermes Agent is an open-source autonomous AI agent from Nous Research, an AI research lab. It is MIT-licensed and developed in the open on GitHub. Unlike a chat window, it runs persistently, keeps memory across sessions, and builds reusable skills from what it has already done. Its OpenRouter listing describes 40+ built-in tools, including web search and browser automation.
Because it is designed to run continuously, it needs somewhere to live. Nous's own documentation lists seven terminal backends — local, Docker, SSH, Singularity, Modal, Daytona and Vercel Sandbox — so the software is deliberately agnostic about the machine. That machine is the part we build.
Hermes Agent is not the same thing as Hermes 3. Nous Research also publishes the Hermes family of open-weight language models, and Hermes 3 8B is one of them. Hermes Agent is the agent that does the work; a Hermes model is one of many models it can be pointed at. ClawBox Hermes Edition ships the agent, and you choose the model — locally through Ollama, or from a cloud provider you bring.
